Azuleon was created by Paulo Magalhães as a natural evolution of his increasing interest in language-related matters. At Azuleon, for any specific task undertaken, you can count on the combined expertise of Paulo Magalhães and select collaborators. Originally trained in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the Faculdade de Ciências and Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas "Abel Salazar" (Universidade do Porto, Oporto, Portugal), he then moved to Scandinavia, to work on his Ph.D. at the Paediatrics Department of Rigshospitalet. After the Ph.D. in Health Sciences (at Københavns Universitet, Copenhagen, Denmark), he crossed the Atlantic for his first post-doctoral position (at the Department of Neurology of Columbia University, New York, USA). During his career, multidisciplinary interests have brought him into contact with a myriad of research fields that include, among others: molecular, human and population genetics; biotechnology; molecular and cell biology; microscopy and digital imaging techniques. A selection of his original research papers (in a variety of international peer-reviewed journals), review articles, book chapters, detailed experimental protocols, and glossaries can be found [here]. He is also a member of the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA). He has lived for extended periods in more than half a dozen countries, spread across three continents. Paulo Magalhães is bilingual (English and Portuguese), is fluent in Italian and French, has a passable understanding of Spanish and a rudimentary knowledge of Danish, and is currently learning German. After almost 18 years of professional experience, he currently divides his time between academic interests at the Università degli Studi di Padova (Padua, Italy) and freelance activities at Azuleon. |
